The wall nut floor is glueded to the concrete floor with great care.
We have used 3 x the normal glue to secure the floor, this due to the under floor heating, the glue also alowes for movement.
The floor has been open for 6 weeks now at room temp, so we hope not much shrinkage if any. The has room to expand 25 mm on the outer walls.
Fingers crossed as no supplier give ant guarentee for a walnut floor over underfloor heating.
PS the boards are not small, that pencil you see is 12 inches long and a xmas pressy

The last 2 days have seen a push to finnish roof before weather turns.

s Niv senior finnishes tiles while S niv junior fits 4 off the 5 air vents, for the 5 bathroms

Cast iron gutter arrive miod week then we will remove scaffold

stuart niven Senior kindly sealed all the new windows with traditional linseed oil mastic, That should please the planning.
The colour is a nice match to the stone.

Today we platerborded the kitchen while waiting on the stairs coming from down south.

As the stairs arrived at 8 in the evening we comoleted the kitchen ready for ames taping

Shwer fitted, but door came damaged, plumber will new door tommorrow.

The lime stone brick tiles have to be fitted 1 by 1 as the 300 x 300 sheets they came on proved impossible to fit evenly.

The 10 meter ridge beam is fire proofed with double fire board.
the internal walls were rebuilt to support this large beam that in turn supports the roof

Pete will fit the last window this Monday, there was delay as 2 diamond cutting wheels are worn out from cutting the internal sand stone for the hidden lead weights that balance the windows

Behind each window there is 100mm on either side to house the 4 lead weights to counter balance the window when opening

no expence is spared as all windows are double glazed with fine bare astricles.

you can see the 2 bottom L/H are already fitted, a relief to see the measurements are correct

Lead burning to form upstand for new dorma sach and case windows.

Lead piece also acts as over flashing for pan tiles

Boiler cupboard

A huge sprint today to build the under stair cupboard to keep the plumber on site.

Boiler was fitted today, plans to fit compressed cylinder tommorrow.

A complicated small cupboard with all the drains running underneath to service tha above bathroom

With the concrete set, the framing has began.

Care is taken to make use of every possible space and use of light.

Stone cut away to increase angle to 35 deg at window to give max light

Lost space under window will provide much needed storage for the clients kids toys.

With the tanking complete, a layer of foil backed insulation was clued to floor. This is for 2 purposes, 1 additional insulation, 2 to protect the tanking membrane during pipe fitting and laying concrete flooring.

The ground floor is around 12 inches below street level.

The rear of the property is mostly under ground level.

it was important to choice a good tanking system.

after reparing the stone wall with reder SIKA 4a was applied 12 inches above ground level

There has been some concern over the front window glazing

This window is only temporary.
It is to allow light for the contractors; in fact the glass came from the old Velux from the rear.
The client is very passionate about restoring the building to the original period.
New windows are on order and are all 12 pane sash and case to match existing

Just a quick note to let you know the 2 upper floors are wired and 80 % plubed in.

Each wall has been fitted for Flat screen at 1200mm above floor, sockets for TV and Ele all in place

Fire proofing complete to upper stairs.

This will allow us to measure and order 180 deg to be made this week.

The stairwell to the upper floors became brighter with the installation of the Velux conservation roof window.
This was not on the architect plans, this window should have been in the upper bedroom. These decisions are often easier to make on sight during works

We would heve finnished if it not for the Supplier delivering the wrong colour metal drips.
